What's In My Bag?

Hey guys! I feel like I'm kind of late to this party - the 'what's in my bag' blogpost. I don't have one bag that I constantly use, I just change it to suit my outfit. At the moment I've been using my River Island Bagpack that I got for my birthday (You can see it here) which I love unconditionally and feel automatically a little bit cooler every time I wear it. I tipped everything out of it, arranged it nicely, and took a few snaps for you! I'm almost 99% sure that most of this is just generic handbag items, but I thought I would jump on the bandwagon anyway.

  •  My Purse - I think I got this one from Topshop a few years ago, and inside I have some money, my cards (Railcard, Debit, Student) and a few old train tickets. Not very exciting, I did warn you.
  • Sunglasses - Mine are from Cotton On, which if you've read pretty much any of my summer outfit posts, you'll already know. I literally only have one pair, and if I sit on them I'm screwed.
  • Keys
  • Phone and Headphones - If I ever go out without these two items, I actually have to turn back for them. No matter how far away I am.
  • Gum - This kind is 'Extra Ice' which is not my favourite, but when you buy a huge tub of it, you have to commit.
  • Hair Ties - Obviously.
  • A Notebook and Pen - You never know when inspiration will strike. Or when you'll be in the mood for an impromptu game of noughts and crosses.
  • Hand Sanitizer, Lip Balm and Perfume - I always stuff one of the tiny perfume samples in my bag just in case (I've got about sixty million from back in the day when I had a glossy box subscription) and the sanitizer and lip balm should be self explanatory. If you ever need hand sanitizer, get it from Bath and Body Works. You can't beat em.
  • Straws - This may seem silly, but I can't count on my hands the number of times I wished I had a straw. If you're wearing lipstick, or sharing a drink with someone, believe me these babies come in handy.
And that's it! Usually I would have an umbrella as well, but I just broke mine so I am currently without. What's the most important thing in your bag?
Stay beautiful!

Summer, are you here yet?

Sunglasses - Cotton On
Flare Tie Dye Shirt - Resurrection
Black High Waisted Jeans - New Look
Anklet - Primark
White Sneakers - Peacocks

Oh English weather, you've been good to us in the past couple of weeks. Going to college with no jacket is a blessing, and walking along with my sunglasses on my head always puts me in a great mood. My shirt is from a little vintage store called Resurrection, and I don't think I ever want to take it off - is it just me who feels like Poppy from Wild Child when they go to a vintage store? (Just me, Okay.)

Nostalgia

Yesterday I was cleaning my room (the mega, spring kind of clean) and I came across this folder containing all of my art GCSE work. Occasionally I do miss the hectic deadlines for art coursework, and the Sunday afternoons spent listening to music with chalk pastel covering me from head to toe. I think I would consider myself a creative person, I like producing things to look back on (if you couldn't tell by the fact that I have a blog!) In fact the other day I went out and bought a set of watercolours again, so that in the summer when weeks and weeks stretch out ahead of me, I may be able to recreate the Sunday afternoon atmosphere. I thought I'd write a post about my old art coursework, purely because if I ever lose any of it, I will have them all safely on here. This is NOT meant to be a pretentious post, I do realise that I could never be an artist, I just felt really nostalgic looking back on it all, since it was a major part of my life at one stage.

I hope you enjoyed this post, I know it was kind of random! Do you have any old hobbies that you miss, or that you would like to start in the future?

Urban Outfitters Wishlist

Okay, so lately I've kind of been obsessed with Urban Outfitters. I mean, literally obsessed. I put together a wishlist of the items that I like in store at the moment, but believe me there's a lot more in there than these six items that I want in my closet.

Stussy World Tour Tee (yes, I do realise
that this is a mens item) - check this out here.

Sparkle and Fade cut out shoulder high
neck top - buy this here. Fun fact, I tried
this on in the shop, loved it, and then didn't
buy it because clearly I'm an idiot.

BDG stripe ringer tee - you can find this
here. I am loving the grey and yellow colour
combination at the moment.

This whole outfit is completely on point,
but I particularly like the Cooperative Daisy

Moving on to shoes, I adore this pair of Vagabond
Lejla Glad Shoes, and I think they would go with a
lot of outfits. You can find them here.

Loving and wishing for this pair of Deena &

What store is your favourite right now?

London Make Up Haul

Hey guys! I thought I would show you the make up items that I picked up whilst on my trip to London. I didn't really purchase much, since I spent most of my money on clothes, but the items I did buy I absolutely love!

Firstly I bought the Nars 'Laguna' bronzer, which is something I have been wanting for a long time. I use it to contour, especially on my cheekbones, and I like the way that there isn't much of a shimmer to it.

Next I picked up a MAC lipstick in the shade 'Mehr'. I've been looking everywhere for a lipstick colour like this: kind of nude, kind of dark pink. Also, the staying power of MAC lipsticks is amazing.

Lastly, as I was standing in the queue at Urban Outfitters, I saw this roller ball lipgloss. Its raspberry flavoured, and the bottle has REAL flowers in it, how weird is that?! Surprisingly, this lipgloss is super moisturising.

What  make up items are you currently wishing for?

A Piece of the 60s

Hi! Today I thought I would put together an outfit, and it turned out kind of like something I can imagine someone in the 60s wearing, with a few modern twists here and there. I love putting together outfits like this, because it feels like a jigsaw - the look wouldn't be the same if any piece was missing.

Skirt - Republic
Crop Top - Urban Outfitters
Heels - New Look
Earrings - H&M

What era do you love the style from?

Style Stalk: Selena

It's been a weird few days without my laptop whilst I was in London. I'm so used to checking Blogger that I think I suffered slightly from blog withdrawal, thank God we can schedule posts to go up! For today's post I thought I would start a little series called 'Style Stalk' - where I pick a celebrity and choose some of my favourite looks from them. For Selena (Gomez), I didn't choose any red carpet looks, as I find that candids show a truer representation of a person's sense of style. As for choosing Selena, I chose her simply because I appreciate her style, and have spent quite some time loving how she dresses up seemingly casual pieces.

This baby blue cropped jumper is the perfect piece to transition from spring into summer - even more so when paired with jeans. Something I've noticed consistently through Selena's style evolution is how she dresses up a pair of jeans with some heels - this nude pair tie the outfit together and compliment the shade of the sweater. Also, hair on point in this look.

I think one of the hardest things to balance in fashion is the amount of accessories that certain outfits warrant. The no jewellery decision works here, because the strappy sandals and the floral playsuit already give the outfit the bold look that any statement necklace would usually give, and the white of the shoes makes the outfit pop. I really love these sunglasses, as the large size and shape (which lean towards something you might see in a men's section) contrast the complete and utter girlyness that covers the rest of the look.

I'm not usually a fan of mixing patterns within the same outfit (three in this case if you count the purse!) but I think it works here. The braid in Selena's hair is classy and cute, and the plain black heels are a good choice considering the bright colours in the remainder of the outfit. I like that the base colours of the skirt and shirt combo are black and white with colour layered over, as it makes the patterns click. I particularly love the bag!

Although I think this floral dress is gorgeous (that shade of pink is to die for) what screams at me about this look is the accessories. The sunglasses suit her with her hair pulled back, and the long silver necklace draws attention to the dress even more. Plus, who can say no to a fringed bag?! That's right, no one. Especially when its cream coloured to match the cream accents in the dress. I think this outfit would look really nice with a summer tan.

This last look is my favourite, of all the hundreds of candids that I trailed through for this post. I think it might be my favourite because its the closest outfit to my style, and the kind of pieces I like to wear. The ripped boyfriend jeans seem much more feminine when paired with a close fit blazer, and having her hair tied up really pulls the look together. I love how she manages to rock the heels with the baggy jeans, and again I think her sunglasses are lovely. I can't even put into words how much I want everything she's wearing here!

What number was your favourite, and who's style would you love to stalk?
Stay beautiful!

Birthday Celebrations

Hola!
It's so weird to think that a whole year has passed since my 16th birthday, and even though a lot of things have changed since then (including me) I feel like I've learnt so many valuable lessons, and experienced things that I wouldn't have predicted a year ago. Despite the fact that my birthday falls on the brink of spring, every year without fail the sun shines, which makes the day even more special. This year wasn't anything extravagant, just a cute little coffee date in the morning, lunch and shopping with my Mum, and then dinner out with my best friends. Even though I'm going to show you some of my gifts below, I truly feel like the best part of the day was getting to spend it with all my favourite people - although obviously I'm so grateful for everything I got!

Okay, so firstly I received the Urban Decay Naked Basics palette, which I've wanted forever. I love the glittery shades in the Naked 1 palette, but some days just call for a matte eye look. I also got a beautiful floral necklace which I love so very much, and a Yankee Candle in the scent 'Marshmallow Chicks'.

My little sister got me 'Love Rosie' on DVD, which I went to see in the cinema a few months back and couldn't wait to watch again - Lily Collins and Sam Claflin, do I need to say more? Bookswise, I got 'It' by Alexa Chung and 'How to Be Parisian' which everyone seems to be talking about, but my Mum just picked out because she knows how I adore Paris (Thanks Mum!)

This black backpack from River Island is so gorgeous I'm tearing up slightly. I wanted a plain-ish backpack that would go with a lot of my outfits, and I think my parents did a pretty good job picking the right one! The gold detailing works well with the black, and the bag fits a lot in, which is what I wanted. Aside from these gifts I just got other little bits, money, and gift cards for New Look, Urban Outfitters, and MAC.
What's your favourite thing about birthdays?
Stay beautiful!

DIY Smoothie

Ingredients
1 frozen banana
Half of a raspberry and cranberry yogurt
A small glass of semi-skimmed milk
Five strawberries (plus one for decoration)

Step by Step
  • Put the frozen banana in the blender and blend it for 30 seconds so it starts to soften.
  • Add in the milk and blend again to avoid every item being blended except from the banana (doing it in stages gives the banana more time to blend).
  • Add the strawberries and the yogurt and blend blend blend!
  • Pour into a glass and pop in a straw. Add a berry onto the side of the glass for decoration!
I hope you like this recipe - its pretty basic and self explanatory but I really like the addition of the yogurt into this smoothie to give it extra flavour. It's also really healthy, which is an obvious bonus!

What's your favourite smoothie?
Stay beautiful!

Goodbye 16

Hey guys!
I think I'll probably schedule this post for the 8th, since that's the day of my actual birthday. I'm turning 17 this year, and I thought it was only right to do a post of my favourite photos from 16!

Prom 2014

Betsy Lane Summer Meet Up

Hands down my most loved summer photo.

Barcelona

Christmas with my favourite people.

(P.S. This looks like a ski trip but it
was actually just a field trip to a
mountain.)

Ft. Cocktails

I'm genuinely quite sorry to see 16 go - it was an amazing year with all of my favourite people and I feel like I really came out of my shell in the latter months. Farewell 16 you will be missed, but bring on 17!
What was your favourite sweet sixteen memory?

Easter OOTD

Dress - New Look
Tights - Urban Outfitters
Shirt - Forever 21
Boots - New Look

First of all, I hope you had a lovely Easter Sunday filled with family, and of course, chocolate! I personally spent the day chilling with family and friends and casually eating my body weight in mini eggs. Second of all, I apologise for the sub-par photo quality, this is an iPhone photo because I simply didn't have time to set everything up for a full OOTD shoot.
How did you spend your Easter? And if you don't celebrate, what did you do anyway?

Wanderlust

Hola!
We all have that list right? The list of places we'd love to visit if we could? Lately, to fall asleep I've been listing in my head all the places and cultures I'd like to experience. I narrowed it down to my top five for you guys...

1. Paris, France
Okay, so I've been to Paris loads of times. It's my favourite place in the world, and I can't wait for the summer after I finish college, when I plan on spending a LOT of time there. There's something about the serenity, and the people (and the macarons) that I just adore. The little coffee shops in the morning, reading a book with a hot chocolate as the city wakes up and comes to life. There are some places in life that I guess make you feel safe - Paris is that place for me.

2. Nashville, The US
Country music and cowboy boots. Who wouldn't want to visit the place where these two things were born? Nashville has always been a place I've wanted to travel to, for a number of reasons. I think I'd find it pretty easy to hand my heart to the city where the country twang was born.

3. Verona, Italy
Italy is one of my favourite countries without a doubt. I think the country has a laid back, romantic vibe that you cant help but enjoy. Some of my favourite memories have been made in Italy, and although I'd enjoy visiting anywhere in the country, I think I'd most love to visit Verona, the home of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet.

4. NYC, The US
New York City. I imagine the streets to feel so alive, and the shopping scene to be amazing. Fashion fascinates me, and I think the variety of style in New York would be enough to give me inspiration for years. The general buzz of the city draws me in, and I know that its a place I'll have to travel to before I die.

5. Singapore, Asia
I can't really explain why I'd like to go here. I've never travelled to anywhere in Asia, so I definitely feel like I have to take a trip somewhere in Asia at some point in my life. I've heard great things about the atmosphere and culture in Singapore, so why not start there?

Where do you want to visit most?
